Tal’s All Natural Summer Baking Camp

June 4 @ 9:30 am - June 7 @ 12:00 pm PDT

Program 1: Age:K- 4th grade

9:30- 12:00 Tuesday – Friday : $240

Week 1- June 4th- 7th

Week 4- June 25th- 28th

Week 7- July 23rd- Aug 26th

This baking camp will introduce young children to different baking styles and techniques. The camp is very hands on, and encourages children to learn to follow recipes and get creative. We will get busy baking different cookie types, exploring Puff Pastry, and making our own Bread!

Day 1-

Fun with Puff Pastry

  • We will start with a brief lesson on puff pastry making and its versatile uses.
  • Bourekas: savory puff pastry pockets —  We will make, bake and enjoy these wonderful little savory pastries for snack.
  • Fruit baskets: a sweet delectable dessert. We will learn how to make these beautiful baskets of heaven. Our promise … Next time you have guests over for dinner, your child can impress everyone with this scrumptious dessert!

Day 2-

Cookies cookies cookies…

  • We will start with a brief lesson on cookie types and the basics of making cookies from scratch.
  • We will make chocolate Rugelach – A flaky East European pastry, filled with Belgian chocolate. All-natural heaven! Kids will enjoy these for snack.
  • It’s sugar cookie time- These cookies, shaped and baked by the kids, will serve as a canvas for decorating with colorful icings, the next day.

Day 3-

Cookie decorating-

  • Our sugar cookies from the previous day,  will serve as a canvas for decorating with colorful icings. We learn decorating techniques and get creative.

Day 4-

Who doesn’t love fresh Bread?

  • We will start the day by learning about bread, the ingredients and the magic that goes into creating this lovely staple food.
  • We will shape our own loaves of Challah (a wonderful egg bread), proof and bake them.
  • We will make challah Pizzas for lunch.

Program 2: Age:K- 4th grade

Week 5- July 9th- 12th

This baking camp will introduce young children to different baking styles and techniques. The camp is very hands on, and encourages children to learn to follow recipes and get creative. We will get busy baking cupcakes and learning decorating techniques, making cake pops from scratch, working with fondant and making our own Bread!

Day 1-

Cupcakes everywhere part 1

  • We will crack eggs, mix ingredients and make cupcakes from scratch.
  • While cupcakes are baking, we will make Buttercream frosting, color different batches and prepare for decorating.
  • We will start working on our fondant decorations for our cupcakes.

Day 2-

Cupcakes everywhere part 2

  • Today we get creative! We use the pieces from yesterday, to decorate our cupcakes.
  • We will also build “cupcake in a jar”- a fun way to display and enjoy cupcakes!

Day 3-

It’s cake pops day!

  • Learn about Tal’s take on cake pops, the different types and some tips for success.
  • We will make chocolate cake pops from scratch, decorate them in different creative ways, and even wrap some to take home.

Day 4-

Teen Program– Grades 5th and up

9:30- 12:00 Tuesday – Friday : $240

Week 3- June 18th- 21st

Week 6- July 16th- 19th

Have a young pastry chef in the making at home? This hands on camp offers some useful baking skills and techniques, with a lot of opportunity to get creative.

From french tarts, to Chocolate Mousse, Cakes, Fondant work and Bread, we will be busy bakers for the week!

Day 1-

It doesn’t get more french than “Tart”-

  • We will learn the differences between tarts, quiches and pies, and the different dough options.
  • Each participant will make and bake made from scratch tart shells.
  • We will fill our tarts shells with different fillings,  to create beautiful scrumptious European desserts.

Day 2-

French macarons… the fanciest cookie of them all…

  • We will learn how to make French Macarons from scratch. These delicate cookies are definitely an advanced baking exercise, but we know our teens can master the challenge!

Day 3-

Let’s make cake!

  • An exercise in independent kitchen work and following a recipe. The kids will be making their own mini cakes, using all natural ingredients and practicing baking basics. This day is all about mixing, whisking, egg cracking and measuring..

Day 4-

It is all about fondant and creativity!

  • This day is all about creativity. We will color fondant and create different decorations, learning basic techniques and letting our imagination shine.
  • We will decorate our mini cakes from the previous day with buttercream frosting and our lovely fondant creations.
  • There is no Friday without Challah bread at Tal’s, so we will also make our famous challah bread.
